The Legend of the Goose

so the story goes ...

Although the exact origins of the tale are unknown, the story begins with a monocle-wearing abbot named Georges who lived in the eastern French countryside during the middle ages. Georges was a cheeky soul who was often referred to as “the wise Abbot Goose” by locals due to his ever-hopeful sentiments, unsolicited advice and flock of pet geese that followed him around everywhere he went. Georges was known to show up at the doorsteps of the townspeople, equipped with a bottle of wine and words of wisdom. One day a fire swept across the land, wiping out the majority of grape crops in the abbey’s vineyard. Georges attempted to heat the wine in an effort to encourage the townspeople to drink the wine slower so that it would last longer. To everyone’s surprise the wine became more potent after it cooled! The abbot continued to refine this process that is now known as distillation. Because of Georges’ strong faith, unselfish wisdom and spirit of curiosity, sainthood was bestowed on the abbot. His new nickname? Saint Goose.

Meet our Gaggle

Andrew & Ashley Kilpatrick

Andrew & Ashley Kilpatrick have always loved good food and great wine. They were married in Napa Valley of California and over the ensuing decades deepened their connection to the wine country through real estate developments, friendships and frequent trips to meet winemakers or bike through the vineyards. While getting a BS in Genetics from UC Davis, Andrew would take courses in the viticulture and enology department just for fun. Ashley was in the hospitality industry where she learned wine and food pairings through corporate events and destination weddings. As their family grew, Ashley became a full-time homeschool mom to their six children and Andrew grew a private equity firm. In 2020, a mutual friend introduced them to their Saint Goose co-founder, Kate Ham, and a dream was born to create a place where they could share their love of gathering people around good food and drink with the community of Franklin, TN.

Kate Ham

Co-Founder and Part of the Core Four here at Saint Goose, Kate’s love of wine and extensive wine knowledge are integral to what we are about. Born and raised in Franklin, Kate spent some time in LA, DC, NY, and has now made her way back to Franklin. She is a certified Somm, loves dogs, and thinks cheez-its go with all beverages.

Christy Miller

Christy Miller joined the Saint Goose Team in April of 2021 and is part of our Core Four Team! She has a background in event design, retail, and restaurant management. Christy coordinates all of our gifts and household items. She is a mother of four, loves Italian wine and enjoys knitting in her spare time. She and her family moved to Tennessee in 2020 and is thrilled to be working in the heart of Downtown Franklin.

Beck Martin

Beck comes from Florence, AL, and recently moved to Nashville, after living and working in the wine industry in Denver, CO for the last 6 years. He caught the wine bug after being introduced to the wonder of a dry Riesling  paired with his favorite food, buffalo wings. Beck is a big fan of music, specifically the funky stylings of Khruangbin, the soulful sounds of Frank Ocean, as well as yacht rock and old country. He’s a big sports fan who spent the first 10 years of his life in Dallas, TX, so the Cowboys, Rangers, and Mavericks are his teams. Beck spends his free time going to shows, eating & drinking on Nashville patios, and playing 9 holes at Vinny Links.

Lew Price

A North Carolina native, Lew is a Tar Heel born and bred. After 25 years as a sportswriter he discovered a thirst for fine wine and spent 11 years in Napa  Valley. Since returning to his Southern roots, he has become a devotee of the bourbon craze. A baseball game, a Jim Harrison novel and trout on the grill...good day.

Emily Ann Kerr

Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Emily got her bachelors in Sustainability and Hunger Studies, at Auburn University. After college Emily moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she found her passion for wine when she joined the Saint Goose team. Her favorite hobbies are baking for her family, listening to K-Pop, and reading.
