The Big Flower Merlot is de-stemmed with a small portion left as whole cluster and sees no new oak. This wine has a very delicious profile with notes of blackberry, plum, and cassis. Uninhibited by any new oak, it really expresses the grape variety with style. The palate is medium to full body; rich and grippy in the mouth. There is plenty of blackberry and blueberry fruit, laced with cedar and black pepper towards the finish. There is something quite gutsy about this wine. It is a Merlot that will convert anyone still saying 'I hate Merlot.'
