This is from one of the best sites in California. Peter Martin Ray sits 1800 feet above the small town of Saratoga. This site dates to the late 1800’s being one of the first Chardonnay vineyards to be planted in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Being perched high above the valley floors, the grapes see more sunshine than our other sites, resulting in thicker skins which bring a savory salinity notes to the wine that reminds us of the great Burgundies from Puligny. Dry-farmed, extremely exposed and some of the rockiest soils we work with give this wine character not to be found in our other Chardonnays.
